Parish Priest

Father Abraham was born on February 1st,1969 at Angamoozhy as the fifth son of Mr. V.M. Thomas and Mrs. Aleyamma Thomas. His living siblings include two brothers and one sister. In 2003 his mother, in 2005 father and in 2017 brother entered eternity.

While his father was working in the Indian Postal Department at Ranni, a couple of years before the birth of Fr. Abraham, he was transferred to Angamoozhy and the family found a new abode. From his childhood onwards he was attracted to Church activities and served as an Alter boy and was member of many pious associations. This paved the seed of vocation in him.

In 1984, after the completion of High School, he joined the Minor seminary at Trivandrum. In seminary he enjoyed to play Football(Soccer) and had a special interest in liturgical and devotional music. He did his Minor Seminary training and Philosophy course at Trivandrum and was sent to Vadavathoor-Kottayam seminary for Theological Studies. In 1994 he was ordained as a Priest by Bishop Most Rev. Lawrence Mar Aphrem. He served at 22 parishes before reaching USA. He assumed the following Diocesan offices: from 2000 thru 2006 Director of MCYM in the Archdiocese of Trivandrum, during this tenure in 2005 he was pleased to attend the World Youth Day celebrations in Germany, with Holy Father Pope Benedict XVIth ; from 2006 thru 2010 District Vicar of Pathanamthitta and the Chaplain of Bethany Sisters’ Provincialate and from 2010 thru 2012 as the Director of the Department of Constructions in the Diocese of Pathanamthitta and gave leadership for the construction of Bishop’s House at Pathanamthitta, Minor Seminary at Attarikam and an Auditorium(A/C) at Omalloor with a 1000 occupancy. He took initiative to the construction of Cathedral Church at Pathanamthitta and Angadickal where he was the then Vicar.

In 2012 Bishop Yoohanon Mar Chrysostom send him to USA for getting an outside experience. He was assigned as Parochial Vicar at St. Pius X, Dallas and in 2015 he was moved to a rather bigger parish at St. Jude’s, Allen where he served for six years as with same status. During this period, he celebrated his Sacerdotal Silver Jubilee of ordination and made a Holy Land pilgrimage as the spiritual leader of his fellow pilgrims from the Parish.

Most Rev. Samuel Mar Irenios, the new Bishop of the Diocese of Pathanamthitta requested him to work for the St. Mary Queen of Peace Malankara Catholic Diocese of New York and Most Rev. Philipos Mar Stephanos appointed him as the Pastor of St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Church, Dallas from July 2021 onwards.
