Father Joseph Nedumankuzhiyil was born in India. His parents are from the traditionally hailed Christian families namely “Pakalomattom”. His father was in the military when he was a child. Father Joseph has two brothers and one Sister. He is a member of St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Church, Vayalathala, in Pathanamthitta District in Kerala State, a parish of the diocese of Pathanamthitta. He completed his primary and high school education in nearby locations in his home town. After 10th grade he joined the Seminary for priest hood. His aspiration to become a priest was originated when he was a child. He studied 11years to priesthood in St. Aloysius Seminary, Pattom of the Archdiocese of Trivandrum and St. Mary’s Seminary, Nalanchira in Trivandrum, 100 miles away from his home. On 27 December 1999 he was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop His Grace Most Rev. Cyril Mar Baselios in the Major Arch Diocese of Trivandrum in one of the Eastern Catholic Churches, Malankara Catholic Church, in South India. His work in India included pastor of several parishes, manager of the Schools, Social work, Youth Ministry, Chaplain and Spiritual Director of Convents and Homes for Children, Hospital Chaplain and teaching and training in the schools and technical institutes.

He concentrated his work mainly with the financially weaker section of the society. He worked in India for seven years and came to the United States to take care of the Malankara Catholic Indian Community in New York. During this time he worked as a chancellor and office secretary to Bishop Joseph Mar Thomas (The Apostolic Visitator to the United States) and worked in the Archdiocese of New York (St. Joseph Church, Spring Valley), and in the Diocese of Rockville Center ( St. Vincent DePaul Church and Blessed Sacrament Church in Elmont). He was the pastor of St. John Chrysostom Malankara Catholic Church, Long Island for four years. Along with these parochial responsibilities he had been doing pastoral ministry in nearby hospitals namely Franklin Hospital and Queens Mission Hospital.

After fulfilling successful pastoral work in New York, as a priest of the Malankara Catholic Exarchate of the USA, he has been the pastor of St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Church, Dallas since June 2011. Besides this responsibility, he is now residing and providing pastoral help in St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Garland, a parish of the Diocese of Dallas. He is also working as a part-time Priest for UT Southwestern University Hospitals, Dallas. Moreover he is the Secretary to the Presbyteral Council of Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate of the USA and Director for the apostolate of Ecumenism and Malankara Catholic Association (MCA).

By this time he has visited several countries mainly Europe and Middle East. He is interested in conducting Pilgrimage tours to Holy Land and Europe. He visited Pope Benedict XVI along with Bishop Thomas Mar Eusebis during the visit “Ad Limina’ of the Malanakra Catholic Bishops in 2011. Under his spiritual guidance and right motivation the church is moving to its primary emphasis on spreading the faith and being a witness not only to the community, but to the country at large.
